Barking when I use a squirt bottle

Hi,
I have a 12 months small breed dog. The two major problems that I have with her is the nipping and jumping. She does these when she wants to have attention. I tried a lot of methods to make her stop but nothing works for her. I try to ignore her as you suggest in the book but it doesn't work. Every time that I tells her off (either by saying a sharp no, or ahhh, or making a noise) she starts barking back to me and then running like crazy for a couple of minutes. The last thing that I tried is to spray on to her with water. With this method I managed to stop her biting our feet. Now when I try to use the same method to solve the rest of the problems she is barking and running again.
I am very worried because my wife is pregnant and I am afraid if she won't stop nipping we are going to have a big problem when the newborn will come home.

Hi there, I can understand how frustrating this must be...especially with a baby on the way. How much exercise is your dog getting?? You could try mixing lemon juice with the water in the spray bottle as dogs hate this...avoid the eyes though Another thing you could try instead of the spray is a bottle or can filled with small stones and give it a loud shake just as she tries to nips...hopefully this will distract her and put her off nipping.
Also have you done anything to prepare the dog for the baby's arrival??

Thanks for your advises. I am going to try harder. I haven't done anything yet to prepare her because we just found it out. If you have any advises about this issue I will appreciate it very much
