I dog sit for a living, & I usually go to the clients house, so the pets can stay in their own home. Lately clients want to know if I can bring their dogs back to my house. My husband & I have 4 dogs ourselves. Our 2 older dogs are starting to have issues with other dogs coming into the house. How can I help my dogs be accepting of dogs coming & going from our house. I want to grow my business, but keep peace. Do dogs get more aggravated as they get older
Sorry to hear about the issues you are having with keeping the peace. Unfortunately our older four-legged furries do get more intolerant of boisterous young dogs. There may be other underlying issues such as chronic pain which could add to their increased grouchiness.
You could try using the Dog Appeasing Pheromone diffuser or collars and see if it changes things. Please be aware that it may take a few weeks to note its effects. The pheromone is a replication of the pheromone that mother dogs emit to puppies to comfort them. It thus relaxes most dogs.
