We have an aggressive dominant 19mth old red cocker spaniel who thinks he is the alpha dog in our house (and he definately is at the moment ) we are using the e book to teach us how to be the alpha and the first step is to ignore the dog for 48hrs, but does this mean no going out for walks too ?

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for writing in and welcome to Kingdom of Pets.

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your pooch and hope that you are able to rectify the issue soon. As long as your dog has enough space to run around in the yard or house, it will be fine to not walk him for those two days.

All the best with training!

During the training, if he growls for what ever reason. Do I shake the tin with pebbles with a firm "no" and then just ignore him ??? Or should this be followed with a command ????
I'm confused ?
Thank you for your help so far .

Hello again Sarah,

We hope your training is going well.

With growling during training, you need to convey that it isn't acceptable behaviour with a firm no (and shaking the tin if needed). Following this, attempt to get him to obey a command he is good at and give him the appropriate reward. If he continues to growl and doesn't obey you then go down the ignoring him route.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Regards,
Preethi
