Leash pulling on the way HOME from his walk

An otherwise very well behaved dog my elderly mother's 2 year 7 month old male Shetland Sheepdog has a specific problem & I wondered if anyone can give advice, please.
He is perfectly fine GOING for his walk but as soon as they start to RETURN home he pulls, pulls & pulls all the way back. Despite stopping & checking him, keeping on a tight lead, not giving him a biscuit when her gets home, EVERYTHING we can think of, the problem persists.
Unfortunately this is making it difficult for my mother to take him for a walk so we really need to solve the problem. Any suggestions?

You might try turning and going in the opposite direction. Once he realizes you aren't going to go home until he stops pulling, he should stop pulling. Of course, this will take a lot of time, so start home long before you want to get there!

Hi there,
what does your dog do when you first go on a walk? Does he seem to enjoy it? What does his body language tell you?
Can you think of any reason why he wants to head home? Does he usually get his meal shortly afterwards? Is there some kind of routine that might make him think that heading home is the best thing? (a play session at home, a meal, a cuddle,...)

Thanks
John
