Licking problem

I have a 13 month old Jack Russel (neutered) who has aggression problems (which is why I bought the books) but now seems to be obsessed with licking himself. This is an ackward subject for me so bear with me. He spends too much time licking and pulling on himself. I've tried a few different things to get him to stop, but he will just go back to doing this when he's left alone again. He's neutered so I guess I thought things like this would not be an issue, like humping, etc. Is there anything I can do to stop this. Is this normal? Help...

Hi there, Just so that I am not confused.....did you mean that your dog was licking his private parts? (if not, how embarrassing for me ) or is he licking his paws?

I have a cat that has suffered from bladder problems. The Vet told me that if I ever see my cat washing himself excessively in "that" region, it might be a sign that he has another blockage or an infection. I wonder if it's the same for dogs. Maybe you need to call your Vet and ask them what it might be?

Does he have a set grooming time, where he gets physical contact from a brush and from being stroked?

Thanks for responding. Yes it is his private parts that he's licking. I never thought of it as a health problem. I will have to call my vet. Thanks for the suggestion.

As far as a regular grooming time, no I don't have one for him, but trust me he gets lots of attention from me.
