I am new to this site and I need help.
I rescued a 30 lb black lab from the local Humane Society but when I took her to the vet, she was a 45 pound unknown breed. Turns out Lucy is at least 1/2 rottweiler with a good dose of chow (oh, and a little lab) and is now over 85 pounds. Now, three years later (Lucy is 4 now) she recently started to fight with her "sister" (another rescued dog - this time a full black lab) that has been with Lucy and I for over two years. In breaking up the fight, I came out with a bite on my leg that probably should have resulted in stiches but I did not want to tell the ER doc that my dog bit me. On a scarier notes, Lucy has recently started to try to catch and kill one of my cats (but not the other one). Last night she jumped onto my mother's lap to steal a chew toy from her "cousin" (male purebreed standard brown poodle 50 pounds) and scared my mother to death. My mom wants me to muzzle her now. She goes balistic barking at anything larger than a regular sized car on the road when we drive around. I have to keep her leashed to a door in the way-back of the van.
I don't know what happened to her, but I can't have a dog this agressive and I don't want to put her down because I failed her and I don't know what to do.
