Hi, We have just (2 weeks ago) acquired Daisy, a maybe 10-11 month old hound, shepherd mix who we are already in love with. She was doing just fine with training, and was ok until recently when she started being unable to hold her bladder until morning. There are a lot of elk bugles right now near the house at night. Also coyotes. We didn't hear anything to wake us up until I heard the dog come over to our bed about 5:30 this am. I got up to let her out but it was too late. she had pissed by the back door. This is the second time in as many nights.Up to now, she has been able to hold it in until morning. The things that have changed: We are treating her for an ear infection, antibiotics am & pm & otic medicine in the ear. I was training her w/ small pieces of turkey hot dog after the pills. I'll stop that & see if it's the nitrates which did make her thirsty. During the day, no problem, as we can tell when she needs to go out. She will walk around aimlessly & I'll ask her if she needs to go "pee" and she will immediately head for the back door. The problem is what to do during the night. I noticed that she wants to lay down by our bed at night at first, then later move to her own. Some kind of insecurity, whereas before she'd go to her bed when told & stay there when we went to bed. I'm thinking we should move her bed near ours so we can hear better, & she may be more secure, then day by day move it a little more back. Any thoughts that would help would be much appreciated.
