My 2 children and myself adopted an 11 month old corgie mix from a local rescue almost 2 years ago. After arriving at our home Onyx appeared to be the perfect pet for us. He was loving and very good with my children. His problematic behavior didn't begin until a month or so later. Onyx became very territorial around our house, yard, car etc. We did immediately enroll in some formal training which went very well( he know general commands now)however even after a few home visits from our trainer, I am not able to curb his behavior with strangers visiting our home. He doesn't want anyone other than the 3 of us and 2 other adults who visit our house very often. Onyx has bitten 2 children and growls and snarls etc whenever anyone comes to our door. The unfortunate result is we have to keep him away from all guests which is not easy or fun. Onyx is a terrific little dog and we all love him very much and can not think of getting rid of him but we would love to solve this problem and be able to enjoy Onyx's company outside of our home and around other people! Do you think it would br benificial to place a muzzle on him just so he can get the experience of being around others without placing anyone in danger. Oh I forgot to mention that he also displays this behavior with other dogs or animals as well. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
