i have a beautiful 12 months old golden retriever bitch,she is wonderful in every possible way except for one habit of often eating stool of other animals like cow dung etc.She has eaten her own stool only twice till now and its really a painful feeling to see such a beautiful member of the family doing this. Can anyone suggest some good ways to help us out?
In my dog's training class, the instructor told another class member who was having this same problem to change his dog's food. It may be a mineral or vitamin that the dog is craving and that is the reason it eats poop. My instructor sold "Solid Gold" dog food brand and swears by it. The guy in my class did change his dog's food and reported that it worked! Go to the highest quality food you can afford and see what happens.
If that doesn't work, I would recommend a trip to the vet for some blood work.
