:eek:I have a 1 1/2 year old pointer who is obsessed with the water hose. when I water the garden she jumps and bite the spray and will drink from it until she actually vomits and still come back for more. She gets so focused on the hose she won't even listen to me try to stop her. Any advise...does my dog have OCD?
Thank you for your post. It sounds as though your dog's obsession with the water hose is not a very healthy one. Perhaps you need to start using a distraction type method to take her focus away from the hose. You might find it easier to get a friend or family member to help you. Turn the hose on, and have your helper hold onto it. Wen your dog shows any interest in the hose, try making a high pitched noise that will get her attention. If she is distracted from the hose, even if just for a moment, praise and treat her. Try this over and over again, and hopefully if you are consistent, your dog's attention to the hose will wane. Whatever you do, please do not let her drink the water until she is sick. If you are having trouble distracting her, you might need to remove her from the situation entirely.
