Is ok for a dog to have a "timeout" in her cage when she acts up....like jumps on the counter, jumps on the house, starts getting wild, etc. Coud this be the spot I put her when I need to ignore her for awhile to show her that her behavior is not acceptable?
It is a very good idea to have a 'time out' area to use when training your dog. The important thing to remember when using a 'time out' zone is that the dog will associate that area with one that it is sent to after misbehaving. Therefore it is vital that this is an area separate from where your dog is normally. Using her cage as the 'timeout' area is fine as long as she is not put into the cage for any reason other than having misbehaved. If she normally sleeps in her cage at night or when you are out, then another area of the house will have to be used as the 'time out zone'.
Hope this helps and all the best with your training
