Jumping on guests is a problem common to many dog owners. People unfortunately unknowingly re-inforce this behaviour with puppies, not realising the consequences of having an adult dog do the very same.
The best way to deal with this is to train him to "sit and stay" on command, so that when your guests arrive you can ask him to do so till his excitement settles down. Another key component to reversing this behaviour is completely ignoring him when he does so. Not a word of praise/scolding should be uttered when he jumps. He will soon realise that he doesn't get any attention from the act and will stop doing it. You could refer to chapter 202-D for more help.
