Hello,
This is our first post and let me start by saying thank you for a great training guide. My wife and I are new owners of a 11 week american bulldog puppy. She is very sweet and has a great disposition....most of the time. We have been following your training guide lines and she is super smart and has learned fast. Our problem is when she lays down when tired and we go to move her so we can put her in the crate she growls and will then snap. She just started doing this and we are eager to do the right thing to correct it. We have followed all guid lines for being the leader. Door ways, food control, making her earn everything. During play she gets very excited and mouthy but I think this is just her being a puppy but is hard to correct. We have moved onto the time out in her kennel which might be working a little for that. We are mostly concerned with the growling and snapping when being moved as the other seems more like normal excited puppy behavior. Oh we also have had her since 8 weeks. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,
Joshua and Audrey Jackson

Not sure how great this service is when you ask a question and still after a month there is no reply. Kinda feels like a scam?

yes after i emailed them like 3 times. i had an aggressive full grown boxer and needed help asap, and it took over a month to get my consultation. it was a good consultation though, and he's doing much better.

A squirt with water from a water bottle in her bottom from a distance if she doesn't respond to the "Come" command. Praise her well when she does what you asked. Another way is to put a long lead on her when sleepy time approaches and ask her to get up and follow you. Again praise her well when she complies. If she has a certain time that she gets sleepy, you might want to try just putting her to bed in the crate, at that time. Then you don't have to move her. Bulldogs can be stubborn and very vocal. Good luck and I hope you get an answer soon. I just posted a question myself. I will email too, if I don't get an answer.

Thank you for the advice things are much better with the growling. However the come command is a totally different story. She is definitely stubborn but obey most commands except come and leave it. We are currently working on heel and is going well....kinda at least as best as we can ask for a 4 month old. Thanks again.

Hi Joshua, you mentioned that you are following the rules so that your puppy knows you are the leader, but her behavior leads me to think that she's not really sure yet of her place in the pack. She should not be growling at you under any circumstance. Sending her to bed when she is tired is a good suggestion. Really being strict with the Alpha rules is also very important. It's great that you are training her in obedience! Also make sure that she is getting a good amount of exercise (for her age). Exercise can make a really big difference to a dog's behavior.
All the best!

Hi Joshua,

My sincere apologies about your query not being replied to earlier. Kingdom of Pets unfortunately didn't have a consultant on board for a bit and recruited me only last week. I shall endeavor to ensure that this doesn't happen again.

Please do let me know how your dog is getting along? If I remember right you were concerned about separation anxiety too. Is she okay now?

Waiting to hear back from you!

Kind regards,
Preethi

I have a aggressive 4 month old doberman puppy. I have to other smaller dogs. They are older. Anyway, my doberman goes after them. Pulls my pekigneese's tail and picks at my Shih Tzu.
I am at the end with this.

Hi Danny,

Thank you for writing in to us about your problem, I am sure a lot of other owners will benefit from this discussion as it is a pretty common issue.

Here are a few keys points with dealing with your situation-

- Start obedience training, the sooner the better.
- Establish yourself as the leader. He needs to look up to you and follow your command. Have a look into the alpha training book to understand this better.
- Do not yell and scream. Just a firm 'NO' or a deep throated growl should work well.
- If it doesn't squirt guns and time outs in a quiet room/cage are good ways of getting your point across.
- Socialize him with other dogs. Dogs that are more of his size and at his energy level. This is important.
- Ensure that he is getting good exercise. This will keep him calm when around your older dogs.
- Chew toys, bones etc are good distractions, espcially when they are teething.
-Feed your older dogs first to try and show him that they are dominant.

I hope these tips help with your problem. Do keep us posted on your progress. All the best!

Kind regards,
Preethi
