Exercising Puppy

I have a 10 week old puppy. She has lots of energy, but I have been told that I can't take her for a walk until she is much older. Is this true? I think that she would love to go walkies!

You really shouldn't take your puppy out to parks or anything until she has had all of her shots. I've heard that long walks are bad for young puppies because their bones are still growing, and it's bad for their joints etc. If she has lots of energy, you could try playing some fetch, or taking her for a swim. Swimming is actually really good for dog's because it's easy on their joints, but uses up lots of energy!

OK, so no walkies for a while. I will definitely try the swimming once she is a little older though! Thanks!

I would also suggest that you ensure your puppy has lots of toys to play with, including plenty of chew toys. Some chew toys allow you to put food treats inside them, and therefore your puppy is challenged to figure out how to get the food back out. Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise, and will also help them use up some energy.
