Female dog squatting too much

I have a 3 month old little girl who has been great about going to the bathroom outside. Over the last week, we have noticed that she sometimes squats to pee 2-3 or more times..... she even "ghost squats" where nothing comes out. Have any of you dealt with this?

We have been praising her when she poops and pees outside and I fear that we may have trained her to squat, whether she needs to pee or not. I have checked her urine for signs of a UTI but it would be weird for apuppy to get one right?

I posted this here because the only thing I want to do is rule out anything bad. She really is potty trained pretty wel

I don't think it would be weird. If she's squatting and not doing anything I'd call my vet and have them check it out. I had a male dog that would mark his territory on walks, run dry and still try to mark. But I think marking by a puppy is unusual because they're not territorial yet.

Yeah, it actually improved when we stopped praising her every time she pee'd outside but the next day, she squatted about 5 times in a row with only a dribble. I brought her in and had her urine cultured.... it's a UTI. Not a bad one and in fact, after only 3 days of clavamox, she's fine. She's also a LOT more calm and not as fidgety.... I chalked this up to being a puppy but was proably contributed to by the UTI. When she's not just hanging out, she's playful and happy so she seems to be feeling much better.

I didn't think we were going to see a UTI in a puppy.... oh well

This points up a good rule: When your puppy (or child) isn't acting normally, see the doctor!
