I have a 7 year old tibetian spanial. She had always jumped up on the bed with no problem. I noticed her limping on her front leg and when she stands still she holds her back leg up off the floor. She will no longer jump up on the bed but will jump down. She has been running with the other dogs and does not limp after walking around for a while only after she lays down for a bit and gets up. The front and back leg are on the same side. I wonder if she might have pulled a muscle, as this started suddenly.
Thank you for your question regarding your lame Tibetan spaniel. The first thing i would recommend is getting her checked out by a vet. Lameness can be caused by a huge number of things and this may be the early stages of arthritis due to the lameness being after rest. Your vet will be able to give you more information and also run tests that can help define the problem. If there is a problem he/she will be able to give you a good idea of the different ways to treat or manage the problem.
