how can i get more information on this. The yorkie pups were born early morning and was still born. Where would the best information be to get the dew claws removed. the vet at banfield refuses to do this
Sorry to hear about your problems with your yorkie pups. I hope you did not lose too many on your litter.
Removal of dew claws can be beneficial in some cases, and harmful in others. We are unable to provide direct insight into this and you should trust your vet, or possibly get a second opinion.
Sometimes dew claws can cause problems with dogs, and in these cases it may be best to get them removed. For instance a dog may consistently get them caught or snagged on things and this can cause irritation. Alternatively, removing them itself may cause the dog harm and they may suffer.
I am sorry we cannot give you any more information than that, but we trust your vet's decision as they are the experts in this field.
