My rascal and I have good relationship now but he seams to like to go to the garden alot now and my mom said that I am not allowed to touch him since he pooed white worms a few days ago so I think he doesn't get alot of touching attention now and I can't play with him. Is this true that I couldn't touch himwhen he is sick or not? If it's wrong how can I proove it to my mom?

Hi Risa!

No worries, most dogs will poo out worms at least once in their life. Have you got your rascal on a worming treatment, like a pill or a liquid flea and worm combination? I strongly recommend having all your pets on worm and flea treatment, its easy to do, and usually only needs doing once every 1-3 months, and it keeps your furries much happier and healthier!

If your dog has recently pooed with worms in it, theres no reason you can't still play. You should treat the worms as soon as possible, but you can continue petting and rubbing and playing as always. Dog worms live mostly in the intestines, and get pooed out when they are mature. You cannot "catch" them through skin contact. The worst you can do is pick up a few eggs from the environment, but these are unlikely to be on your actual dog, and as long as you wash you hands after playtime, you should be all good to keep playing as much as you like.

You can get worm treatments at your local vet, or stores such as PetSmart carry them as well. Both locations will have more information on worms specific to your area, their lifecycle, and how to treat them.

Overall, no worries about you catching worms, just be clean, and have fun with your rascal!

Hey, Risa!

Have the worms disappeared? Your guy keeping up his weight? You getting enough sleep in between the bouts of studying?

Watch him, Risa.

If he is still losing weight, he probably still has worms. So take him back to the vet.

If he is gaining weight again, as a growing pup should, then hurrah!

Well am I suppose to be fattening him up? It's because when he walks (before when I adopted him) his belly was one and a half inch off the ground (which looks fat).

Check him out with the vet and find out how much he should weigh. I cannot really tell you when I cannot see him.

Well, after you start your reply, click on "Go Advanced." You will see a paperclip at the top. If you click on it, it will give you a place to browse your computer for the picture you want to upload. Go ahead and try.

Hey, Risa,

Very quickly: When you type in your message, you have two choices at the bottom -- "Post Quick Reply" and "Go Advanced." That is the go advanced you want to click on instead of Post Quick Reply.
