Hello
I am new to this forum . Never done this before so here it goes. I have a ten month old GSD. About a week ago I noticed a bald patch on his muzzle. It is not bigger than a raisin. He is acting normal and it does not bother him at all. But I am getting very worried. Does anyone have an idea what it could be? I am going to take him to the vet comes Monday but in the meantime I would value any information you can give me.Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Hopefully you find it useful

As far as a bald patch - it could be a number of things - a "scar" from a scratch/bump/bug bite...a random bald patch ( )...a reaction to something in the environment (fleas, other bugs, pollen, etc)...

If your dog doesnt seem bothered by it (its not red, hot, itchy, discharging fluid or pus) I wouldn't worry too much. Your vet will be able to give you good advice on it once he's seen it.

Thank you for your sound advice. As you said there is no pus or redness. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense. My vet was out of town this week so I haven't been to him yet.But as soon as I have I let you know what he says.

I took my dog to the vet yesterday to check on the bold patch on his muzzle and I was relieved when he said there was nothing to worry about. He said the same things you had suggested to me. So thanks. Your advice was right.
