Hi Thomas,

Thank for writing in! It is great hearing from new members. Welcome to the forum.

Before I answer your query on how to tackle the issue you are having, could you please tell me how long you have had your dog and what training you have done so far with him?

Looking forward to your reply!

Hi again Thomas,

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly.

I feel that the best way to tackle the issue is by training your sons dog as well. Please note that this must be done separately to training your new puppy, if you do it together they will probably distract each other and you will get nowhere with training. You could also enforce some alpha training as well with the older dog.

It's great that the potty training is going well. Do not fret too much if there are lapses in your puppy's obedience levels, he is still young and playful. With time and him getting a little older things will change. Keep persisting with the training, find out what motivates him most ( whether it is food or praise etc.) and use this to encourage him along the way. Keep the training sessions short (5-10 minutes at most),have multiple sessions each day and always end them on a good note.

I hope this helps. All the best with training!
